About GetATSReady
Our Mission
We built GetATSReady to solve a simple problem: 75% of resumes never reach human eyes because they're filtered out by Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
Most job seekers don't know why their applications are rejected. Our tool gives you instant, actionable feedback to fix these issues while keeping your data 100% private.
Meet the Maker
Built by a Staff Technical Writer and Product Builder with over 12 years of experience in the tech industry. This tool was created as a privacy-first utility to help peers and job seekers navigate the increasingly complex AI-driven recruitment landscape.
Scoring Formula Transparency
We believe in transparency. Unlike other tools that use "black box" algorithms, here is exactly how we calculate your score:
Full Match Mode (With Job Description)
- Keyword Match (40%): Semantic overlap using our bi-directional synonym library.
- Template Compliance (20%): Detects multi-column "word salad" risks.
- Impact & Metrics (20%): Scans for Power Verbs and quantifiable results.
- Structure (20%): Verification of standard professional sections.
Base Analysis (Resume Only)
- Template Compliance (40%): Foundation of parsability.
- Impact & Metrics (30%): Content quality and leadership tone.
- Structure (30%): Categorization and layout health.
Why We're Different
- 100% Private: Your resume never leaves your device. Everything is processed locally in your browser using `PDF.js` and `Mammoth.js`.
- Zero Signup Required: No email harvesting, no paywalls, no nonsense.
- Action Verb & Impact Detection: We scan for over 50 "Power Verbs" and use an 80/20 weighted logic — 80% of your impact score comes from quantifiable metrics (numbers, %, $), mirroring what recruiters value.
- Intelligent Synonyms: Our engine understands that "AWS" is the same as "Amazon Web Services" or "Cloud Infrastructure."
- Vocabulary Diversity: We alert you if you've overused generic buzzwords or repetitive action verbs.
FAQ
Q: Why is my PDF score lower than my Word (DOCX) score?
A: PDFs with multi-column layouts often cause "text scrambling" where the ATS reads across both columns at once. DOCX files are structurally safer. Use our "Raw Text" preview to see if your PDF is being scrambled.
Q: What are "Active Verbs"?
A: Action verbs like "Launched" or "Orchestrated" show leadership. Passive phrases like "Responsible for" are weaker and scored lower.
Q: How do I debug an issue?
A: Use the "Download Debug Log" button in the footer. This creates a local file you can email to us for support without sharing your full resume.
