GetATSReady

Built so you can see the robot before the recruiter does

GetATSReady is a free ATS resume checker that runs in your browser. Paste a job description, drop a PDF or DOCX, and see a local estimate of keyword overlap, structure, and layout risk. No account. The file is not uploaded for the free scan. The page still loads Google Analytics, ads, and error reporting.

Who makes this

I am a product builder and technical writer. I made this after watching strong resumes fail because the template scrambled in a parser. The scanner is the product I wanted on the other side of that screen: honest, local, and usable without a signup wall.

I built this while I was laid off. The longer version is a book, Laid Off, Still Running (out 30 Oct).

How the score works

This is not a black-box “ATS score” from a vendor. We extract the text in your browser, then apply a multiplicative model:

  • Keyword overlap (40%) against the job description you paste (optional).
  • Structure (20%) — standard sections a parser expects.
  • Impact & metrics (20%) — numbers and action verbs in bullets.
  • Format / layout risk (20%) — multi-column or table-heavy files score lower here.

Template issues can also discount the keyword portion. A multi-column or table-heavy file can hide keywords even if the writing is good. That is why a pretty Canva resume can still score poorly. Without a job description, the score uses format, structure, and impact only.

The number is a diagnostic, not a job offer. Different employers use different ATS products and settings. We cannot guarantee interviews.

What is free, and what is not

  • Scanner and resume maker are free, unlimited, no signup.
  • Your resume stays on the device for the free scan. We do not receive the file unless you pay for a human review and send it on the intake form. The optional email box sends the address and the score, not the file.
  • Ads help keep the scanner free. This site is not ad-free.
  • Optional human review ($49 / $79) is a paid writing pass if you want a person to edit the file. It is not a placement service.
